208 Area-wide Water Quality Management Plan

Under this plan, SEAGO conducts consistency reviews of new or expanded wastewater facilities. If a facility is not consistent with the plan, an amendment must be approved before the facility can be permitted by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality. SEAGO’s staff works with representatives from member communities and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality to complete 208 plan amendments.

This is accomplished through the administration of the SEAGO Section 208 Water Quality Management Plan (WQMP). The plan, written to uphold Section 208 of the Clean Water Act dictates a public process for new wastewater treatment facilities and the expansion or change to existing facilities.

Those that are required to file an amendment to the SEAGO WQMP should note that the process may take anywhere from 6-12 months.
